The Pediatric Movement Center is the perfect place for children to participate in clinical programs and special events! Our knowledgeable and supportive team in combination with our enriching environment creates the perfect place for children to learn, grow, and have fun! The events and programs offered by the Pediatric Movement Center change regularly, with options open for children of all ages and abilities! Each PMC program and special event has been meticulously planned to have a unique and engaging curriculum, themes, and/or activities designed to empower students to achieve new skills all while having fun!

  • Therapy Groups

    Our clinical programs facilitate new skill development for children of all ages and abilities. Our team of skilled therapists are focused on each student's personal success, competing with themselves to be stronger than they were yesterday. Each clinical program is run by a highly qualified clinician, and taught in a fun and supportive atmosphere that encourages personal growth, exploration, and learning. Skills our clinical programs focus on include: strengthening, motor development, sensory processing, and communication, and social skills. Our most popular therapy groups include our handwriting groups, social skills groups, and our feeding clinic.

  • Special Events

    Enjoy play time at PMC with our rock wall, swings, clubhouse, bounce floor, monkey bars and more! Our special events are a great time for kiddos to socialize with one another, explore new surroundings in a sensory rich environment, exercise, and of course, play! We offer a variety of events (a-la-carte registration) including  themed play sessions,  tea parties, parent-child craft night, Kids Night Out and more! 

Kathleen Carter

  • Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical

    Kathleen Carter, MSW, LCSW-C, is a Licensed Certified Social Worker–Clinical dedicated to helping children, adolescents, and families build the skills and confidence needed to navigate life's emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges. She earned her Master of Social Work with a specialization in Child, Adolescent, and Family Health from the University of Maryland School of Social Work and approaches every child with the belief that lasting progress is achieved by supporting the whole family.


    Kathleen provides compassionate, evidence-based care that recognizes each child's unique strengths, experiences, and environment. She partners closely with children and their caregivers to better understand the factors influencing behavior, emotions, learning, and relationships while creating individualized treatment plans that promote meaningful, sustainable growth. Her collaborative approach empowers families with practical tools and strategies that can be used at home, in school, and throughout the community.


    Her clinical interests include anxiety, ADHD, executive functioning challenges, emotional regulation, behavioral concerns, self-esteem, social skills, family relationships, life transitions, and supporting children with chronic health conditions or developmental differences. Kathleen is especially passionate about helping children develop resilience, improve self-awareness, strengthen communication skills, and build healthy coping strategies that support long-term emotional wellness.


    Kathleen utilizes a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to each child's individual needs, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), solution-focused interventions, strengths-based therapy, and family systems approaches. As an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP), she also has advanced training in supporting children and families affected by ADHD and executive functioning challenges, providing practical strategies that foster independence, organization, and confidence.


    Throughout her career, Kathleen has developed educational resources and programs that promote social-emotional development, executive functioning, self-advocacy, and healthy relationships. She believes that every child has unique strengths to build upon and strives to create a safe, supportive environment where children feel heard, understood, and empowered to succeed.


    Kathleen is committed to working collaboratively with families, physicians, educators, therapists, and other members of a child's care team to ensure coordinated, comprehensive support. Her goal is to help children not only overcome current challenges but also develop the emotional resilience and life skills they need to thrive throughout childhood and beyond.
